3 days of Interactive Demonstrations and Keynote Speakers That Bring Together the Global Healthcare Community
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: February 15, 2017 – The Intelligent Health Association is proud to be bringing its award-winning IHA Pavilion back to HIMSS 2017 for a 7th year. HIMSS will be held in Orlando from February 19th to 23rd, 2017. The Intelligent Health Pavilion’s goal is to raise the level of awareness and educate healthcare professionals on the integration and adoption of new technologies for improved patient care and safety and the patient experience.
The Intelligent Health Association for 2017 will bring together some of the top global technology firms to demonstrate “True, Real time, “I o T in the Healthcare Eco-system” through a series of demonstrations in its I o T Demo Theatre. The IHP will also feature key note speakers who are international luminaries in the Health eco-system such as: Dr. Patrick Soon Shiong, CEO of NantHealth; Greg Cassini, Senior VP of Health for Frost & Sullivan; Barry Runyon, Research VP, Gartner; Dr. Simon Kos, Senior Vice President of Global Health for Microsoft; Natasa Sokolovich, Executive Director, UPMC Telehealth; Don Jones of Script Translational Institute; Dr. Chris Landon, Director of Pediatrics, Ventura County Medical Center and Dr. David Metcalf, Researcher for the University of Central Florida.
“We are bringing together technology to create a community of care,” says Harry P. Pappas, CEO of Intelligent Health Association. “Our goal is to demonstrate how technology can lend itself to creating better, longer, healthier and safer lives for patients around the world.” A passionate advocate for collaboration to create global wellness, Harry truly believes that the i-Home is a shift towards pro-care. “With the advent of the smart phone and other specific technologies, the point of care has transferred from the hospital to the home and will increase patient compliance and data collection to improve patient health outcomes.”
The i-Home focuses on health and wellness and was launched in 2014 as part of the Intelligent Health Pavilion. Along with the Intelligent Hospital, the Pavilion’s i-Home showcases relevant use cases, a combination of both smart home (consumer-oriented) technologies, and clinical and medical technologies that have been successfully deployed in connected smart homes.
“As the healthcare ecosystem shifts from fee-for-service to a value-based model with consumers/patients having to finance a greater portion of the cost burden, clinical services are becoming commoditized,” says keynote speaker Natasa Sokolovich. “Price transparency, convenience and low-cost treatment alternatives are the new normal and successful providers and payors are identifying and embracing technology which allows them to redefine the way that care is delivered in order to meet consumer expectations. This is an exciting time in healthcare as the focus shifts away from “brick and mortar” hospitals and care settings to meet the patient where they are- at home, at work…virtually everywhere.”
