Natasa Sokolovich, Executive Director, Telemedicine UPMC

Natasa Sokolovich is Executive Director, Telemedicine for UPMC and Senior Director, Affiliated Physician Services. As Executive Director, Telemedicine, Natasa is responsible for the strategic expansion of UPMC’s Telemedicine program. UPMC Health System is headquartered in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and encompasses an integrated clinical delivery & finance system with over 60,000 employees, 21 hospitals and 400 doctors’ offices and outpatient sites, as well as’ a health insurance organization with over 2.4 million members. The health system is committed to utilizing advances in technology and expanding telemedicine as one of the pillars of future healthcare delivery.

Prior to joining UPMC, Natasa spent over sixteen years working in various leadership positions in the Biotech and Pharmaceutical Industries. Her professional experience includes working for Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Roche Laboratories and prior to joining UPMC- Enzon Pharmaceuticals, Inc., as Manager of Commercial Operations.

Natasa’s education includes a Bachelor of Science, Magna cum Laude degree and a Law Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a Master of Science in Healthcare Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Natasa maintains a license to practice Law in Pennsylvania.

The Avera eCARE Virtual Hospital model currently serves more than 240 partner facilities over nearly 600,000 square miles. Avera offers multiple distinct service lines that provide synergy for the care of the individual patient. To date, more than 800,000 patients have been cared for with projected health care savings topping more than $175 million. The presentation will discuss the keys to success and challenges of this unique clinical platform.

Donald J. Kosiak, MD, MBA, FACEP, CPE; Avera eCARE Executive Medical Director

Donald J. Kosiak Jr., MD, MBA, FACEP, CPE is the Avera eCARE Executive Medical Director. In this role, he serves as the chief medical officer of one of the most robust telemedicine programs in the United States. In addition, he has served as the Chief of Staff of the Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health System, a 545-bed tertiary care medical center located in Sioux Falls, SD.

Previously, he served as the Chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Avera McKennan Hospital, where he continues to work as a staff emergency physician. Dr. Kosiak is active in the United States Army Reserve as an emergency physician, having served three tours of duty in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.

Dr. Kosiak attended medical school at the University of North Dakota. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN and received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.

Dr. Kosiak is a published researcher and an experienced presenter, having presented at over 50 national and international conferences.
