SESSION OVERVIEW
This one and a half day symposium is sponsored by the Intelligent Health Association (IHA) in cooperation with the mHealth Summit 2014 organization along with IHA’s strategic educational partner, the IEEE standards organization and Frost & Sullivan with the purpose of examining advances in the Intelligent Medical Home (IMH), covering mobile devices and apps, wireless technologies, NFC, RFID and RTLS technologies, wearables, ambient sensing and remote monitoring technologies currently used in a home setting, or in development for home use and in assisted living, nursing home and Long term care facilities. The symposium will focus on case studies from pilot programs and actual implementations, and from efforts sponsored by leading hospitals including the US Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, and universities, using these case studies and presentations to stimulate discussion on recent advancements in key areas of IMH innovation and deployment such as: clinical workflow, business models and partnerships, ROI and outcomes measurement, interoperability, technology selection, privacy and security.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Target audiences for the symposium include mHealth, Telehealth and Telemedicine professionals, technology developers, IT professionals, state and federal health professionals, clinical administrators, and other health industry decision makers along with the health insurance industry.
KEYNOTES
Saturday December 6 Integrated Ambient and Wearable Sensing for mHealth Guang-Zhong Yang, PhD, FREng, FIEEE Professor Guang-Zhong Yang is director and co-founder of the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Deputy Chairman of the Institute of Global Health Innovation, Imperial College London, UK. With demographic changes associated with the aging population and increasing number of people living longer, the requirement and practical provision of future healthcare delivery are changing rapidly. Shorter hospital stay and better community care is set to be the future trend of healthcare. Such schemes must be underpinned by an intelligent and pervasive information link between patients and specialist centres through wearable or implanted wireless sensory devices to provide early warnings of adverse events. The provision of “ubiquitous” and “pervasive” monitoring of physical, physiological, and biochemical parameters in any environment and without activity restriction is the primary motivation of Body Sensor Network (BSN) research. This talk will highlight the key technical challenges, as well as the latest developments and practical examples of BSN for mHealth and how this may help to reshape the future of healthcare. |
